New Welfare Reform Training Courses

by on January 22, 2013

Another quick advert to let people know that we’ll be criss-crossing Britain during February and March offering a number of courses courses on Welfare Reform.

WELFARE REFORM AND MEANS TESTED BENEFITS
This course looks at the core means-tested benefits system which will exist when the changes produced by the Welfare Reform Bill, and other announcements, come into force, many of which impact in April 2013. The course includes Universal Credit, localisation of Council Tax relief, changes to Pension Credit and Housing Support, and the effect of the benefits cap.

WELFARE REFORM AND OLDER PEOPLE
This course presents a full overview of the Welfare Reform changes, but concentrates particularly on the impact on older people and their dependents. Of particular interest are the changes to the Pension Credit Plus scheme, the new single-tier pension proposals and the significant impact on older people with partners of working age.

WELFARE REFORMS – SICKNESS AND DISABILITY
This course is for those who work with, or give advice to, disabled people of working age. It aims to give a broad overview of the benefit changes which will impact on this group, including PIP, Universal Credit, and other benefit changes of significance.

PIP – PERSONAL INDEPENDENCE PAYMENT.
From 8 April 2013 the Government is introducing a new benefit called the Personal Independence Payment (PIP) to replace Disability Living Allowance (DLA) for eligible working age people aged 16 to 64. This course examines the new non-means tested welfare benefit and its impact on disabled and terminally ill clients.

UNIVERSAL CREDIT IN DETAIL
A detailed day, full of practical work, to equip attendees with the understanding of how the new benefit works and how to advise about it in practice. The course includes the interaction with Council Tax Reduction schemes.
This course will be offered in our next round but is available in-house from April

The courses will be held in Chester, Birmingham, Glasgow, Leeds, Cardiff, Exeter, London and Newcastle and all attract 6 hours SRA CPD.
